In 2002, the traditional meyhane and tavern concept was reinterpreted in Amsterdam. World-renowned Dutch architect Rob Wagemans brought his modern vision to the Mediterranean, Turkish, and Eastern meyhane and tavern culture, opening Nomads in Amsterdam that year.From its opening day, Nomads inspired many European women to abandon salsa and begin taking belly dancing lessons. It also led to numerous Turkish and Eastern ornamental items finding their way into homes across Europe.
